We are so saddened to learn of the passing of mother, influencer, businesswoman, and beauty guru Jessica Pettway. Many may have known Jessica’s face before her name because she was considered an OG influencer on YouTube as she shared tips and tutorials that grew her following to over 200,000 on YouTube alone.
Jessica Pettway reportedly had been misdiagnosed with fibroids in 2022 but later found out she had stage 3 cervical cancer in 2023. Her sister Reyni announced her death via an Instagram post.
This shocking revelation coincides with many Black women’s complaints of unfair treatment by healthcare professionals who write off their pain which leads to many misdiagnoses and deaths that can be prevented. Pettway had been hospitalized and multiple physicians had overlooked her pain according to her social media posts.
Jessica leaves behind her husband of 12 years, two daughters, family, friends, and a host of fans and admirers around the globe.
The fight for medical equity must continue and grow stronger.
